It’s March Madness time, and as is the case with every other major media event, brands are looking to get involved. For instance, here’s Hot Pockets, which today is launching a bracket-style music video competition with some prominent YouTubers.
“Sandwich Showdown” will pit four prominent YouTube personalities — the Smosh duo of Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox, Taryn Southern, Brittani Louise Taylor, and the sketch comedy troupe The Warp Zone — against each other to create a song about what they love about Hot Pockets sandwiches. Smosh and The Warp Zone are facing-off against each other on the #TeamMeat side of the bracket, while Southern and Taylor duke it out to represent #TeamCrust in the finals.
Winners in each round will be determined by fan voting.
The Hot Pockets Sandwich Showdown competition was developed by Hot Pockets and Defy Media, which owns the Smosh and The Warp Zone properties. (Brittani Louise Taylor is repped by Fullscreen, while Southern is networked with AwesomenessTV.) The marketing campaign will be promoted across relevant properties owned by Defy Media both on and off YouTube.
