Hulu just scored its first-ever Emmy nomination. “Behind the Mask,” the VideoInk-approved sports documentary series from Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Greenbaum, has been nominated in the Outstanding New Approaches — Sports Programming category at the 35th annual Sports Emmy Awards.
The show, which has already been renewed for a second season, follows a group of sports mascots at multiple levels of the game — from high school all the way up to the big leagues — and documents their passion for what they do. Created by Greenbaum and produced by Occupant Entertainment, the second season is currently in pre-production.
At the Sports Emmys, Hulu is going up against sports heavyweights such as Fox Sports, ESPN Films, NFL Films, and SI.com. Winners will be announced at a special ceremony on May 6.
Meanwhile, Greenbaum has the distinction of having two of his projects serving as online originals — “Behind the Mask” on Hulu and the golf documentary film “The Short Game” on Netflix.
