Amazon Is Going To Announce Its Streaming Media Gadget At An Event In New York Next Week
Amazon just sent out invitations to the press for an event in New York on April 2, teasing an update on its video business. The event is almost certainly to announce a new gadget for streaming video to your TV from services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon’s own video library. Several outlets have reported recently that Amazon will unveil such a device this spring.

Hulu just scored its first-ever Emmy nomination. “Behind the Mask,” the VideoInk-approved sports documentary series from Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Greenbaum, has been nominated in the Outstanding New Approaches — Sports Programming category at the 35th annual Sports Emmy Awards.

Aereo is defending its TV-streaming service as the “next technological step,” according to its final written argument before the Supreme Court case against broadcasters on April 22. “The evolution of technology from a black-and-white television connected to a rabbit-ear antenna and a Betamax to a high-definition television connected to a digital antenna and DVR had not changed those core principles [of the law],” Aereo wrote in the court paper.

Maker Studios Cuts TV Deal — Its First — with Music Choice
Maker Studios has inked a distribution partnership with Music Choice, a pay-TV music channel that reaches 57 million households in the US. Per the deal, Maker Studios will provide Music Choice with 500 hours worth of programming from the MCN’s Maker Music vertical. Content will span multiple formats, including original music videos, lifestyle series, and one-off clips, and will be available across Music Choice’s pay-TV channel, video-on-demand service, and digital video platform Music Choice Play.
YouTube Blocked in Turkey
YouTube has been blocked in Turkey after an anonymous account posted an audio recording of what is alleged to be several top Turkish intelligence officials discussing possible military action in Syria. A statement credited to the Turkish telecommunications agency said: “After technical analysis and legal consideration based on the law, an administrative measure has been taken for this website.”

Starz Digital Media announced a new web series to its YouTube comedy channel, Union Pool, and the continuation of its animated series Tvoovies. A live-action comedy Llama Cop will premiere on April 1., and Popcorn Addicts will premiere on April 15 on Union Pool. Tvoovies will continue to release episodes every Tuesday and Thursday including Zero Dark 30 Rock and The Hangover of Thrones.
