“Good Karma $1,” a short film starring advertising legend Alex Bogusky, has been acquired by Rainn Wilson’s SoulPancake for a limited online run.
Starting April 18, viewers can check out the film, which follows Bogusky as he pays for and collects cardboard signs made by homeless people, in an effort to explore how those down on their luck use signs — a form of advertising in its own right — to receive help. Soon, Bogusky begins to design his own signs.
“Good Karma $1” is available on SoulPancake’s YouTube channel, which recently crossed the 1 million subscriber mark. Wilson launched SoulPancake in 2008 to create and share uplifting and thought-provoking content. One of the company’s biggest online hits, Kid President, will soon be coming to a TV near you thanks to a deal with The Hub Network.
The film was developed and produced by Bogusky, a former executive creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Dave Schiff, chief creative officer at Made Movement, and the digital studio Kids at Play. The deal with SoulPancake was brokered by David Beebe of Idea to Screen.
