Vimeo On Demand has quite possibly made its biggest “get” to date. The on-demand offering from Vimeo is exclusively offering “In Your Eyes,” the latest project from filmmaker Joss Whedon (“The Avengers,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), moments after the feature made its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Directed by Brin Hill, “In Your Eyes” tells the story of a bored wife who shares a strange connection with a charismatic ex-con. Starring Zoe Kazan, Michael Stahl-David, and Mark Feuerstein, it’s the second film to be produced by Whedon’s Bellwether Pictures, after the Whedon’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.”
For $5, customers can rent “In Your Eyes” for 72 hours, and watch it on any device that Vimeo is available on.
Here’s a quick clip of Joss Whedon talking about the premiere, which was screened at Tribeca as the director is currently in production on the highly anticipated “Avengers” sequel.
Earlier this year, Vimeo announced a $10 million fund to bring more independent film projects to Vimeo On Demand. The company has been working with filmmakers who have screened their projects at major film festivals, and those who have successfully used crowdfunding to finish their projects. Vimeo also said that it would use some of the $10 million to grab individual titles that make sense for its platform.
