Lionsgate announced its new president of interactive ventures and games today. The title will go to Peter Levin, most recently the CEO and co-founder of Nerdist Industries, who will now works towards forging new lines of business with Lionsgate’s content.
As a recognized expert in the games and digital media sphere, Levin will focus on content expansion in those areas by creating new content and investing in extant games and digital media.
Levin’s credentials extend back to his time with Japanese media giant Yoshimoto Kogyo, MAG Interactive, comiXology (the digital comic and graphic novel platform), and Rovio Entertainment. His most well known accomplishment may be his involvement with the “Angry Birds” franchise.
With consumer spending on mobile and social media games having gone up by 130% last year, it makes sense to recruit someone like Levin to help hone Lionsgate’s game and digital media focus.
