This week on the “Magnet Minute,” I preview a first-of-its-kind national podcasting conference.
While celebrities and news organizations use podcasts to connect with their audiences, podcasting is an often overlooked marketing tool that can potentially help a small business reach a niche audience — and it’s inexpensive!
Podcasts can help you build relationships with customers and other stakeholders, and they allow you to deliver a personal message without the extra work involved with producing videos. Many entrepreneurs use podcasts to establish their expertise and build their brand. They are flexible in that you can produce podcasts at nearly any length, and can record them as monologues, panel discussions, or interviews with guests, based on your needs and recourses.
Consumers enjoy podcasts because of their portability. On-the-go individuals can download their favorite podcasts and listen to them in the car, at lunch, or during a workout. But despite their popularity and ease, many business owners don’t quite understand how to get started, how to produce content, or how to use them as an effective marketing tool.
Addressing those concerns is the purpose of the first-ever Podcast Movement, a national conference dedicated solely to the art of podcasting. The conference, funded by a Kickstarter campaign, will be held in mid-August in Dallas, Texas.
According to Movement’s website, the conference offers attendees more than 40 breakout sessions divided into three tracks: Beginner Podcaster, Advanced Podcaster, and an all-star panel. Hand selected keynote presenters will “bring unique and interesting takes on the typical podcasting model, and help show you what it takes to set yourself apart from everyone else’s noise.”
“We want our mission to be clear: If you have a podcast now, you’ll learn how to raise the bar. If you’ve had the dream of getting one started, you’ll learn how to pull the trigger. Only come to Podcast Movement if you have the burning desire to improve and succeed.”
