Jan Riemens, CEO of European MCN giant, Zoomin.tv, met with us to talk about its history and strategy.
Riemens explains that they built Zoomin before YouTube existed, so they were able to reach the 27 countries and establish themselves as one of the largest MCNs in the game. Their content production, all original and done in-house, and monetization capacities brought them to such high ranks. They now syndicate content on YouTube as well as other platforms.
Zoomin’s monetization strategy consists of advertising and pay per view. The company shoots videos for advertisers and makes them clickable while mobile users pay per view. The latter doesn’t require advertising because viewers pay 50 cents for a live broadcast or a short program.
Riemens’ advice to advertisers and media buyers is to stay patient. He sees too much money still floating to television and he encourages advertisers to remain focused and invest in the long term.
