Machinima plans to air “The Art of the Game,” a new feature-length documentary from gaming studio 2K, on its Twitch and Xbox platforms, before releasing it on YouTube.
The film follows a group of students who are studying at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in the hopes of entering the increasingly-competitive gaming industry. At the same time, it will explore how games — or “interactive entertainment” — has become an art-form of its own.
“The Art of the Game” was executive produced by 2K and directed by Matthew Davis Walker of Story Developing, a creative studio which co-produced “Muscle Shoals,” a 2013 Sundance Film Festival selection.
Machinima, no stranger to offering premium content about games and the gaming industry, will air “The Art of the Game” at 1pm PT and 6pm PT on its Twitch channel. After that, the company will release the documentary on its app for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on May 9.
