YouTube star Ray William Johnson has landed a starring role in an indie movie called “Who’s Driving Doug.”
The film will tell the story of a reclusive, wheelchair-bound intellect who takes a road trip with his new driver. The screenplay is a personal one, penned by Michael Carnick, who due to a rare disorder is confined to a wheelchair.
Alongside Johnson, the film’s cast is headlined by RJ Mitte (“Breaking Bad”) and Paloma Kwiatkowski (“Bates Motel”).
“Who’s Driving Doug” will be produced by David Katz and Nicole Carbonetta.
Mitte is repped by BRS/GAGE and Melinda Esquibel; Johnson is repped by 3 Arts and Troy Zien; and Kwiatkowski is repped by manager Darren Goldberg, agent Carrie Wheeler, and attorney Neil Meyer.
This is Johnson’s first starring role in a feature-length film. The creator, known for his “Equals Three” series, decided to exit the program a couple of months ago to pursue other projects he’s interested in. He’s currently in the process of recasting the show, which comments on (and pokes fun at) trending stories of the day.
