Vincent D’Onofrio has been cast in Netflix and Marvel’s upcoming superhero series “Daredevil.”
The veteran TV and film actor, whose best-known for “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Full Metal Jacket,” and “Homicide,” will play the villain Wilson Fisk, a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen put him at odds with blind attorney Matt Murdock and his crime-fighting alter-ego Daredevil.
Marvel previously announced the casting of “Boardwalk Empire’ star Charlie Cox as the titular hero.
The series, which is officially being called “Marvel’s Daredevil,” tells the story of a New York City attorney who was blinded at a young age by a radioactive substance, which also gave him heightened other senses.
It will be Marvel’s first original series for Netflix, produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Television Studios. Executive producers include showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus,” “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer”), filmmaker Drew Goddard, who’s also scripting the show’s first two hours, and Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb.
