We are a few weeks away from VidCon, the annual gathering of YouTube stars, their fans, and — increasingly — entertainment and advertising executives who want to know (or already know) what all the fuss is about.
It’s the fifth VidCon, which will be held again at the Anaheim Convention Center from June 26 to 28, and is expected to attract more than 18,000 people.
For those interested in the industry aspect of the YouTube ecosystem, the conference organizers have secured a list of heavy-hitters to present and speak on panels during those three days in Anaheim.
DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, more than a year after acquiring AwesomenessTV, will open VidCon 2014 with a conversation about the entertainment business and the future of online video in a session moderated by VidCon co-father Hank Green.
Recently installed YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki will give the event’s Industry Day keynote. Her presentation will offer a window into the new initiatives and products YouTube is working on.
Other industry-specific sessions include panels about working with MCNs, the development and marketing of branded content, generating revenue beyond advertising, the issue of copyrights, and the future of the web in the context of the FCC’s current bungling of net neutrality.
Should be fun!
