Amazon Studios is close to ordering a pilot for “Point of Honor,” a Civil War drama from former “Lost” writer Carlton Cuse and “Secretariat” director Randall Wallace.
Described as a historical event drama, the story centers on a Virginia family that’s divided at the onset of the Civil War. The project was first developed in 2011 as a series for ABC.
Cuse and Wallace have co-written the pilot, with Wallace on board to direct. It will be co-produced by Amazon Studios and ABC Signature, a division of ABC Studios. Executive producers include Cuse and Barry Jossen, the former head of ABC Studios.
Other pilots currently under development at Amazon Studios for its third pilot season include “Hand of God,” starring Ron Perlman and Garret Dillahunt and directed by Marc Forster, and “The Cosmopolitan,” starring Adam Brody and Chloe Sevigny. These two pilots are expected to roll out later this year, allowing viewers to watch and rate the programming before Amazon chooses whether to pick either up for a full season.
