Digital sports network The Whistle continues to add new pro-sports league partners to its content library. The company has inked a distribution deal with the Association of Volleyball Professionals, the top beach volleyball tour in the US.
Per the agreement, The Whistle Network will now distribute AVP highlights, interviews, and assorted original content across its digital platforms, which include a multi-channel network on YouTube as well as an app on Xbox.
“We recognize the importance of reaching our fans and supporters on each and every screen and platform they’re already using,” said AVP managing partner Donald Sun, in a statement. “Partnering with The Whistle Network gives our growing audience unfettered access to interviews with our professional athletes, highlights from tournaments and other content using the devices and channels they prefer.”
The AVP is the exclusive domestic beach volleyball tour for some of the sport’s top athletes, including Olympic gold medalists Kerri Walsh-Jennings, Todd Rogers, and Phil Dalhausser.
Other pro-sports partners for The Whistle include the NFL, Major League Baseball, the PGA Tour, Major League Lacrosse, and NASCAR. The network also has a content and distribution pact with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Independent YouTube creators also belong to The Whistle’s MCN, including trick-shot gurus Dude Perfect and Brodie Smith. Overall, the network reaches more than 5 million subscribers on YouTube, totaling almost 600 million views across its content library to date.
In mid-May, The Whistle netted $10 million in new financing from media heavyweights including Gerry Laybourne and Bob Pittman. They join a roster of investors that include sports stars like Derek Jeter and Peyton Manning.
