Today at VidCon, video editing and sharing app Bloopit is releasing its latest edition. The app targets both YouTube video creators and viewers, offering promotional opportunities and simple sharing with friends.
The Bloopit app lets users cut videos to the exact portions that they want to share with their friends, limiting each “Bloop” to 22 seconds max. In other words, rather than having to send over a link plus the exact time in the video where the sender wants the recipient to start viewing, the sender herself can cut the video down to just that moment. The app lets users select start and end times for each video they share and works on a number of social media platforms.
Bloopit aims the product at content creators by suggesting they use the app to find new followers, promote their videos in “reel format,” and distribute their work across various social media platforms. For now, it works exclusively with YouTube, but hints at expanding to other video platforms.
The app, which has been downloaded over 10,000 times prior to its official launch, also seeks partners. The company’s announcement describes the perks of such partnerships by offering to feature partners’ Bloops, hosting their banner ads, and giving them access to the back-end of the ad portal, which reports analytics in real time.
The app operates on iOS and Android and allows users to like and comment on any sent Bloops.
