The only major broadcast network to have a significant presence at VidCon 2014, NBC hosted “The Tonight Show Random Lip Sync Challenge” Thursday at the convention. The interactive event allowed participants to record their own lip syncs for a shot at joining a mashup video that will show up on the NBC and “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” YouTube channels.
The “Tonight Show” VidCon booth hosted the lip sync challenge, with five song options chosen by Jimmy Fallon himself. They included “Turn Down for What” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj, “All I Do is Win” by DJ Khaled, and Iggy Azaela’s “Fancy.” Each participant received custom footage of Fallon introducing and providing an outro for their lip sync submissions.
The event also served as an opportunity for NBC to encourage downloads of the Fallon app and related games, in addition to promote his “Tonight Show” YouTube channel, which currently has over 3 million subscribers.
Here are some shining moments from the lip sync event at VidCon:
There’s Jimmy Fallon himself, hosting the lip syncing challenge (…sort of).
Who knows what they’re lip syncing, but these guys probably deserve to be featured on the NBC and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” YouTube Channels.
This girl definitely gave her all to the challenge. I want to say she’s not lip syncing to “Teenage Dream.”
Yup, definitely not.
Of course, no VidCon event is complete without the gadgets.
Finally, posing with Jimmy.
