“Bob Thunder: Internet Assassin,” a film inspired by Joe Nation’s web series, “YouTube Assassin,” now boasts three major YouTube stars among its cast. Shane Dawson, Olga Kay, and Chester See have all signed on to feature in the movie, about a killer who goes after YouTube stars, leaving identical, brand-promoting robots on their place.
The movie will include several other major YouTube creators along with appearances by Janice Dickinson and Rampage Jackson. Joe Nation, who originally planted the seed for the flim, will direct, while Relativity Digital Studios and FilmOn co-produce.
“This project harnesses the talent and fervor of the YouTube community to reach a key audience for Relativity,” said Roger Mincheff, president of Relativity Digital Studios, in a statement. “‘Assassins’ disrupts the traditional film model for packaging and producing films for digital platforms, which we hope to continue to replicate with today’s storytellers.”
“Bob Thunder: Internet Assassin” will mark Relativity’s first digital movie. Having begun in June, the production for the film will wrap up in time for a January release on FilmOn.
News of the film and its YouTube-heavy cast was first reported by The Wrap.
