Charles Gabriel has been hired by Maker Studios as chief advertising officer and executive vice president of global sales, a new role at the company. He will be responsible for overseeing Maker’s global sales strategy and driving worldwide revenue.
Most recently, Gabriel served as SVP of global video sales at AOL. There, he led all sales and strategy efforts for AOL’s video business, which has grown over the past couple of years to be a top-five comScore-ranked network. Gabriel also oversaw the integration of Adap.tv when the company was acquired by AOL in 2013.
At Maker, Gabriel will report to the company’s head of sales Jason Krebs.
“[Gabriel’s] expertise and experience working with the world’s top brands and advertisers and growing a team of industry leaders will be key as we expand our platform around the globe,” said Krebs in a statement.
With Krebs at the helm, Maker recently announced the Labs@Maker program, which focuses on recruiting brands, partnering them with the MCN’s roster of talent, and creating original branded content for the web. At the same time, Maker also unveiled a Maker Offers, a platform that allows advertisers to programmatically connect with Maker’s network.
