AOL just announced that Marta Martinez will assume the role of global head of video sales, moving forward with the company’s digital distribution and monetization strategy. Martinez will head sales in the video arena, reporting to Ran Harnevo, AOL video’s president.
Having joined AOL in 2013 as the head of sales strategy and operations, Martinez has plenty of prior experience leading sales teams at the company. Before coming to AOL, she served as the chief marketing officer at MediaMath, where she worked on strategic partnerships, business development, and marketing.
Of her new appointment, Martinez said, “My career has been about connecting global brands with content, technology and next generation marketing solutions. I am thrilled to bring this experience to AOL’s video business and to enhance our ability to connect brand marketing strategies with the most robust advertising vehicle of today — video.”
Since 2011, AOL has debuted almost 50 original digital series, including the likes of “Park Bench with Steve Buscemi,” “The Future Starts Here,” and “Making a Scene with James Franco.”
