MTV’s “The Buried Life” has turned to the web for a new home. Having sold the original pilot for the show that explores people’s bucket lists to the TV network in 2009, it’s no longer on television…and by popular demand, it has reincarnated on the web.
As co-founder of “The Buried Life,” Ben Nemtin explained, “To our surprise, long after the show, ‘The Buried Life’ continues to grow a huge following online. People send us their lists of what they want to do before they die. Their stories are mind-boggling. When brands come to us we tell them: help us help our fans. Everyone wins. We still have our hands in television but we feel the smartest way to share these short, powerful stories is online.”
The original show on MTV saw Nemtin, Duncan Penn, and Dave Lingwood traveling the world to cross items of their own “to do” lists while helping fellow dreamers do the same as they went. Now, their partnership with Contiki, a youth travel company, allows them to bring young people on wish-fulfilling trips to be filmed for the short-form series online.
