Hollywood talent agency ICM Partners is the latest in the “big five” to form an incubator — called “O Labs” — in partnership with design and software company Originate and business services firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips.
The company, which has been formed as its own independent entity will build, scale, and run startups across all areas of business with a particular focus on companies that “address challenges facing large and growing enterprises,” according to the release distributed today.
Though there will not be a significant focus on video, Manatt Digital Media CEO Peter Csathy tells us that video could certainly be part of the equation. Any company with a significant software/product development needs would be able to qualify, he adds.
O Labs will combine the expertise of the three founding companies, including software and product development from Originate, business consulting and law from Manatt, and sales, marketing, and branding support from ICM. These services plus the networking relationships each company is armed with would provide all O Labs portfolio companies with the sources they need to build products and services for enterprises.
The joint venture will be helmed by O Labs CEO Matthew Pierce, with members from each founding organization serving on its Investment Committee. O Labs will be headquartered in LA, with a goal of incubating and launching three to five companies per year.
