Jed Simmons, the former global head of news content partnerships at YouTube and co-founder and EVP of Next New Networks, is joining the advisory board at Mediakraft Networks, a multi-channel network based out of Germany.
Mediakraft’s online video network is comprised of more than 2,000 channels, reaching roughly 36 million subscribers, and generating around 350 million views per month across YouTube, Yahoo, and ClipFish.
A month ago, the company raised $23 million in a round of funding led by Paris-based investment firm Iris Capital.
With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment and media space, Simmons will be an important resource as Mediakraft continues to build its business in Europe, says company CEO Spartacus Olsson. “Jed is one of the key players in the digital industry. With Jed and his deep understanding of the online video industry on board, we are strengthening our capacity to revolutionize the European online video industry even faster.”
In addition to founding Next New Networks, which was acquired by Google/YouTube in March 2011, Simmons has also served as COO of the Sundance Group. He also owns and operates EllStreet, an advisory firm that mainly works with young media companies. He also serves as an advisory board member to Frederator Networks, the animation-focused MCN launched by Frederator Studios.
