As it turns out, not all the best anime originates in Japan. Take the example of “RWBY,” the anime series created by US-based Rooster Teeth Productions. On Friday, the network announced that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Japan will export the show there.
“RWBY” will be dubbed over in Japanese for its 2015 release on Blu-Ray and DVD in the Asian country. The export will begin with “RWBY: Volume 1,” along with additional, unspecified series merchandise.
Monty Oum, Rooster Teeth’s director of animation, created “RWBY.” It follows four women who simultaneously attempt to fight evil and graduate from their monster-killing training academy. The first season comprised 16 episodes which are available to watch on YouTube, Blip, and Crunchyroll.
Warner Bros. has a history of anime content acquisition and distribution around the world, from shows like “Accel World” to “Supernatural: The Anime Series.” The move of Rooster Teeth’s “RWBY” marks the first crossover of American-made anime to Japanese-speaking viewers.
