Nicki Minaj is the new queen of Vevo. The music video for the first single off her new album, “Anaconda,” has generated 19.6 million views across the music video platform within the first 24 hours after its launch.* In the process, Minaj has dethroned the previous record-holder, Miley Cyrus and her music video “Wrecking Ball,” which had garnered 19.3 million views in the same timeframe.
This is not the first time Nicki Minaj has found success on Vevo. Previous music videos, including the Justin Bieber collaboration “Beauty and the Beat” and the solo “Stupid Hoe,” have netted Vevo records during their time. Six of her videos have been certified by Vevo (having received more than 100 million views), the company said.
