Maker Studios has signed Daniel Middleton, known on YouTube as Minecraft-focused gaming star The Diamond Minecart. Middleton reaches more than 3.4 million subscribers, and since launching the channel two years ago has accumulated more than 1 billion video views on the site.
Per the contract, Middleton is joining the Maker Gaming division, which includes the vertical network Polaris, which YouTube heavyweight PewDiePie is also a part of. Maker will provide channel and content optimization for Middleton’s channel, as well as foster collaborations and brand deals.
Middleton is primarily known for his “daily mod reviews” as well as several “Let’s Play” series including “The Diamond Dimensions” and “Minecraft Xbox.” When considering which MCN to sign with, Maker’s acquisition by Disney was not lost on the star. “I have many friends and close collaborators working with Maker, which inspired my decision to join forces with the team, and couldn’t be more excited to be part of the many exciting things happening at Maker and Disney,” said Middleton in a statement.
Overall, Maker Studios’ network reaches more than 550 million subscribers, garnering over 8.5 billion views per month. The company also recently signed music star Lindsey Stirling.
