Viacom-owned BET Networks has appointed Kay Madati, formerly the head of entertainment and media at Facebook, as its new executive vice president and chief digital officer.
In the role, Madati will be responsible for all aspects of BET’s digital, social, and mobile strategy, and will oversee operations, content creation, technology, and product development across its suite of digital platforms, the network said. He is tasked with overseeing BET Digital, the interactive arm of BET that’s comprised of BET.com, BET Mobile, Centric.tv, and the network’s VOD offering.
At Facebook, Madati’s team, which operated within the social network’s Global Marketing Solutions team, focused on securing digital and social partnerships with film studios, TV networks, and other entertainment companies.
Prior to Facebook, Madati was the VP of audience experience at CNN Worldwide, where he led the integration of social media into CNN’s daily programming across multiple platforms.
Based in Los Angeles, he will now report to BET chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee.
