A new report from online parenting hub BabyCenter, “US Mobile Mom 2014 Report: Mobile Powers Mom’s Life” shows that video-watching is the fourth-most popular activity for mothers on smartphones.
With 65% of moms surveyed watching videos on their phones, the activity falls just behind playing games at 66%, while texting and social media take the first and second spots on the list.
So what are mothers watching on their cells? 73% use their smartphones to consume short content clips, with 62% turning to their phones for video tutorials. Mothers also tend to use their smartphones while watching TV on their home screens, indicating not only a preference for multi-tasking, but also traditional television’s current lack of supremacy even in the home.
BabyCenter’s report took data from 1,118 women in the United States. Women in the study were at least 18 years old and either pregnant or mothers of children under nine.
