It’s September, which means one thing and one thing only for many Americans — football season has begun. Of course, YouTube views reflect the start of the season, and certain channels have started to stand out against the rest. This can be hard to do, when the NFL already puts out so much football-related content in the US.
As Nicole Estebanell, the SVP of media at DigitasLBi puts it, “There’s a legacy of big, established content and distribution partners for football, so it’s great to see such a wide range of new and emerging content creators in this space.”
The following top five emerging football channels on YouTube, based on data from Outrigger Media and its Emerging Talent Tracker tool, definitely bring a new take on the sport to the digital realm. As always, brands have to realize the value in this, too.
“With football,” says Estebanell, “brands should take a long look ahead at the coming season and map out which games and players they want to activate around.” YouTube channels like these top five can certainly help brands find the right football content to use to their advantage.

This channel may not focus too much on what’s going on this season in the real world of football, but NewAgeMadden caters to gamers who love the sport. Playing out impossible scenarios (like the 49ers vs. the 49ers), the video creator here plays an expert game of Madden.
3. KC Deportes

This Spanish language channel focuses a lot on football in the, appropriately, Spanish sense of the world. However, American football gets its fair share of the spotlight on KC Deportes, like in this Madden video below. Among the few English words you’ll hear here are “New York Jets.”

Not letting you forget what time of year it is (football season time of year), MaxPreps focuses on the younger side of the sport — specifically, high school, with the help of varsity coaches from all over the country. Where TV fails to meet the demand of high school football fans, this channel picks up the slack.

Claiming to talk about nothing but sports in general and the Denver Broncos in particular, ThatsGoodSports does not purport to “do either of those things well.” Bringing a much-needed comedic lift to American football, the host tends to have alcohol nearby as he hands out ridiculous faux awards to various to Broncos players, as in the clip below.
