“Wedlock,” an independent comedy series starring Mark Duplass (“The League”) and Rob Corddry (“Children’s Hospital”), has been acquired by Vimeo and FilmBuff in a joint distribution deal.
The series centers on a “perfect couple” that actually isn’t, and the marriage counselor they bring in to help them create a successful romantic relationship — “by any means necessary.” Created by actress Jennifer Lafleur, who stars alongside Duplass and Corddry, the series originally screened at SXSW earlier this year.
Now it will go to Vimeo On Demand, which has exclusive rights to sell and stream the show for 30 days, beginning September 29. Spanning 10 episodes, the entire season can be purchased for $3.99, with individual episodes priced at $0.99. (Considering the following Duplass and Corddry have among the indie and comedy crowds, and the fact that Vimeo’s audience overlaps with those audiences, this feels like an appropriate match.)
Following the window on Vimeo, the series will be distributed across iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, PlayStation, Xbox, and Vudu.
Written by Josh Perilo and directed by Lafleur’s collaborator Ross Partridge, “Wedlock” is produced by Duplass Brothers Productions in association with Principato-Young Entertainment. Mark and Jay Duplass executive produced alongside Lafleur and Jen Roskind.
News of the deal was first reported by The Wrap.
