Fullscreen continues to grow its offerings for musicians. Following the company’s recent partnership with Loudr, which aims to help the network’s creators monetize their music in places other than YouTube, Fullscreen has formed a pact with We Are The Hits, a digital video network that emphasizes legal ways for musicians to create, share, and make money from cover songs.
The new deal gives Fullscreen creators access to “15 times more songs” via the Cover Songs app within the MCN’s Creator Platform, according to the company’s blog. This will give musicians in the network the ability to cover upwards of 3 million songs in videos that they can then legally monetize.
This also means that We Are The Hits will now claim all cover songs created through the app. However, artists will still receive payments related to their work via Fullscreen.
Fullscreen also urges creators to recognize that the new partnership doesn’t grant rights for the use of songs outside of covering them. In other words, using a song in the We Are The Hits library as background music remains a no-no without the correct license. Creators can also now work with Fullscreen to make money from cover songs they created and uploaded to their YouTube channels in the past.
