“Linsanity” is coming to Whistle Sports.
The current point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers has signed with the sports-focused digital media company and YouTube multi-channel network. Lin’s channel, TheJLin7, adds nearly 400,000 subscribers to Whistle’s MCN, which recently crossed 7.5 million total subscribers.
While not active on the channel by YouTube-creator standards, Lin’s channel is the home to several original videos and sketches starring the former Knicks superstar. A few of them feature a big name within YouTube circles, Ryan Higa.
“Jeremy Lin is more than an elite athlete and role model with a global following. He’s also incredibly talented when it comes to making compelling content that people enjoy sharing,” said Whistle Sports president Jeff Urban in a statement. “We’re excited to have him as part of the team and to be able to work for and with him.”
Whistle Sports’ basketball vertical now comprises 4.75 million total subscribers, the company said. It includes launch partners like Dude Perfect and Shot Science Basketball, as well as more recent additions like the Harlem Globetrotters, Team Flight Brothers, Stronger Team, BallIsLife, and ImPossible Training.
