Netflix is adding to its children’s programming through a pact with animation company 41 Entertainment. The streaming video service announced plans for an original CGI series about King Kong, set to roll out at the start of 2016.
Executive produced by Avi Arad (the man behind the Spider-Man movie franchise in addition to several other superhero flicks), “Kong” will kick off its run on Netflix with a feature film, after which 12 episodes will come out the streaming video service. Each will run for half an hour.
“Kong” will take place in San Francisco circa 2050, placing Kong as the series’ hero. Arad heads production company Arad Productions, through which he’ll be working on the 41 Entertainment King Kong series.
