HBO has partnered with Facebook to stream an intimate Foo Fighters concert exclusively on the social network. “Foo Fighters Sonic Highways: Live from The Cubby Bear,” which doubles as a “premiere party” for HBO’s new music miniseries “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways,” will air live on HBO’s Facebook page starting at midnight ET on Friday, October 17.
The band will take the stage immediately following the premiere of “Sonic Highways,” an eight-part series directed by Foo Fighter Dave Grohl that will highlight a different American musical landmark in each episode.
The premiere episode takes place in Chicago and prominently features The Chubby Bear, a small club that holds a huge personal significance to Grohl (where he saw his first punk rock show).
This isn’t the first time HBO has partnered with Facebook on a live stream, previously hosting a red-carpet special for the season four premiere of “Game of Thrones.”
The Foo Fighters concert stream will be limited to fans in the US. Those who miss the stream will have the opportunity watch it on-demand on “certain HBO platforms” at a later date, the company said.
