Scripps Networks Interactive and its lifestyle-video brand Ulive recently launched a new parenting series on YouTube.
“This Is a Show for Parents of Gay Kids,” based on the bestselling “This Is a Book for Parents of Gay Kids” book written by Dannielle Owens-Reid and Kristin Russo, focuses on helping parents understand their LGBTQ kids. The series is written by Owens-Reid and Russo, who also host, and Matthew C. Mills and Chelsea Stoutenburgh.
New episodes of the weekly series will debut every Friday on Ulive Family, a new advice-oriented YouTube channel dedicated to family and parenting. In addition to the weekly episodes, Owens-Reid and Russo will host “reactive” vlogs, in which they answer questions and respond to comments, every other week.
Executive producers for “This Is a Show for Parents for Gay Kids” include Owens-Reid, Russo, and Mills, who also directs. Amy Emmerich, F. Stone Roberts, Chris Vivion, and Meredith Carlin executive produce for Ulive. Stoutenburgh also serves as producer.
“This Is a Show for Parents of Gay Kids” is one of multiple series being produced for Ulive Family, which launched in late August. Other shows on the channel’s slate include “Expecting Hilah,” which document Hilah Johnson from another Ulive series “Hilah Cooks” as she goes through pregnancy for the first time.
In line with Ulive’s previously stated goal of working with both traditional and digital talent, Ulive Family also offers “Primo Parents.” In this compilation series, some of the top YouTuber families dispel parenting advice. The first episode featured the Nive Nulls.
