PopSugar’s first comedy series, “Seriously Distracted,” will debut on October 21.
The scripted series, first announced by the lifestyle publisher during its Newfront earlier this year, centers on a group of women working at a New York City PR firm whose pop-culture obsessions keep on getting in the way of their actual jobs.
Spanning eight episodes, “Seriously Distracted” wills tar Amy Sedaris (“Strangers with Candy”) as the head of the PR firm. Other cast members include Greta Lee (“Girls”), Morgan Grace Jarrett (“Broad City”), Laura Grey, Cathryn Mudon, and Russ Armstrong. YouTuber Arden Rose will guest star in an episode.
The show comes from “SNL” producer Broadway Video’s online comedy network Above Average, which produced a video (of a group of office women freaking out about Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling”) that serves as the inspiration for the series. It’s part of an overall deal between Above Average and PopSugar to co-produce short-form, scripted comedies featuring both rising and established comedy stars, the companies said at PopSugar’s Newfront.
The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
