Latino YouTube network MiTu is sending two of its original web series to TV via a partnership with Discovery Familia.
Per the deal, Discovery Familia, a Spanish-language cable channel owned by Discovery Communications, will air original, long-form versions of two existing series from MiTu, “Casa Linda” and “Gurus de Belleza.”
“Casa Linda” follows Linda Ruiz, a professional TV and film art director, as she visits famous online personalities and regular people and offers them quick and affordable home-design tips. The series will premiere on November 20.
“Gurus de Belleza” stars three Latino beauty gurus, Marisol Gomez, Cris Ordaz, and Gaby Motomochi, who visit young women across the country and help them achieve the perfect look for a special occasion or event. The series will debut on December 12.
Both series, which were created by MiTu and incubated on the network’s MiTu Life YouTube channel, are geared toward women, Discovery Familia’s core audience.
At the same time, MiTu will continue to air new, shorter episodes of both series on MiTu Life.
MiTu and Discovery Familia have also agreed to a “cross-platform engagement program” with the intention of driving their respective audiences to both versions of the series.
As TV networks explore ways to attract new viewers, many are partnering with top digital talent to bring their content to TV. Existing deals of this type include Nickelodeon’s upcoming “React” TV series with The Fine Brothers, A+E-owned FYI Network’s “Epic Meal Empire” cooking series with “Epic Meal Time” and Collective Digital Studio, and Cartoon Network’s “Annoying Orange” series based on Dane Boedigheimer’s digital character of the same name.
