Crackle just made a bunch of announcements concerning its upcoming programming slate. The streaming service now has a star-studded cast for “Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser” as well as release dates for feature films “Dead Rising: Watchtower” and “The Throwaways.”
The cast of “Joe Dirt 2,” a sequel to Columbia Pictures’ “Joe Dirt,” will include Christopher Walken, Dennis Miller, Brittany Daniel, Patrick Warburton, and Mark McGrath along with David Spade, who will naturally return as Joe. The film should come out on Crackle during summer 2015.
Before that, Crackle viewers will get to watch the streaming service’s video game (“Dead Rising” franchise) to feature film adaptation “Dead Rising: Watchtower” on March 27. The movie will come out as a DVD and through SVOD and VOD options that day, as well. It stars Jesse Metcalfe, Virginia Madsen, Meghan Ory, and Dennis Haysbert. “Dead Rising: Watchtower” is produced by Legendary Entertainment’s TV and Digital Media arm along with Contradiction Films.
Yet another feature film from Crackle, “The Throwaways” will be the first to debut on Sony Pictures Television’s streaming service. On January 30, the comedy/spy thriller will showcase talent like Kevin Dillon, Katie McGrath, Christian Hillborg, Jack Kesy, Sam Huntington, and James Caan as misfit CIA agents. Written by Michael Ross and directed by Don Handfield, “The Throwaways” is executive produced by Jeremy Renner and Handfield through their production company, The Combine, with Timothy Linh Bui.
