Defy Media has named Joshua Fruhlinger senior vice president of its lifestyle vertical, a newly created position at the company.
In the role, Fruhlinger will oversee lifestyle sites owned by Defy, including Made Man, which is known for shows like “Speakeasy with Paul F. Tompkins,” and The Gloss, which focuses on “style and substance for the modern woman.” He will be responsible for leading creative direction for all video and written content for both brands.
Be based in New York, he will report to Defy’s head of content Barry Blumberg.
Most recently, Fruhlinger was head of digital at TMZ, and prior to that was editorial director at Engadget. In 2007, he founded and headed AOL Tech, which oversees sites like Engadget and TechCrunch.
