Yahoo will premiere its original sports comedy series, “Sin City Saints,” on March 23.
First announced at the company’s Digital Content Newfront in 2014, the half-hour comedy will follow the triumphs, failures, and transgressions of a fictional pro basketball team based in Las Vegas.
It will debut on Yahoo Screen on March 23, nearly a week after Yahoo premieres the highly anticipated sixth season of “Community.” Unlike “Community,” however, all episodes of “Sin City Saints” will be available on the premiere date, as Yahoo tests the binge model popularized by Netflix.
“Sin City Saints” comes from executive producer Mike Tollin (“One Tree Hill,” “Smallville”), and is directed by Bryan Gordon (“Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Party Down”), and written and executive produced by Chris Case (“Legit”).
Its ensemble cast includes Malin Akerman (“Trophy Wife”) as a Stanford-educated lawyer who is the special assistant to the league commissioner; Tom Arnold (“Sons of Anarchy”) as a private casino host who happens to know all of the city’s secrets; and Andrew Santino (“Mixology”) as a Silicon Valley tycoon who bought the team and quickly learns that he’s in way over his head.
