AOL’s first long-form series, “Connected,” will debut on March 31.
First announced in April 2014, “Connected” is a docu-reality format that will follow the lives of six New Yorkers over the course of six months. The series aims for a more personal tone by having each subject record themselves, as opposed to a camera crew that follows them around everywhere.
Subjects include writer and Spin owner Jonathan Bricklin and his girlfriend, actress Susan Sarandon; MTV’s “Broke A$$ Game Show” host and stand-up comedian Derek Gaines; interior designer and architect photographer Nina Ferrer-Mannino and her husband Stefan Mannino; married tech executives Eli and Ido Bendet-Taicher; Flying Television CEO Lori Levine and her fiance Jan van Arsdale; and radio and TV host Rosie Noesi and her boyfriend Joshua Baggett.
The series is adapted from an award-winning Israeli docu-series made by Koda Communications. The AOL version is produced by Morgan Spurlock’s Warrior Poets, with Spurlock, Koda’s Ram Landes and Ami Teer, and AOL’s head of video Dermot McCormack serving as executive producers.
At the end of March, “Connected” will debut on AOLOriginals.com, with four episodes rolling out every two weeks. In total, the season will span 20 episodes, with each installment running 20 minutes or longer.
Sprint is on board as the exclusive sponsor of “Connected.”
