Machinima has hired former MediaLink and Sony Pictures Television executive Jamie Weissenborn to be its first chief revenue officer.
In the role, Weissenborn will be responsible for all aspects of Machinima’s direct sales efforts, including content marketing solutions that span branded entertainment, brand integrations, and sponsorships, as well as ad sales for the company’s original programming and talent network across all platforms. He will also steer Machinima’s sales, solutions, and packaging teams, and report to CEO Chad Gutstein, the company said.
Weissenborn comes to Machinima from BlackTree TV, an urban entertainment channel on YouTube, where he was the interim CEO. He will continue to serve as an investor/advisor for BlackTree as well as Hispanic online automotive publisher Autoproyecto.com.
Prior to BlackTree, Weissenborn was SVP of online video, content strategy at MediaLink, where his clients included Machinima and other YouTube businesses like Maker Studios, Zefr, and Vevo.
At Sony Pictures Television, he served as SVP of digital media and global advertising sales. There his responsibilities included leading global revenue expansion for Crackle, as well as overseeing centralized ad sales and branded content efforts for SPT networks worldwide.
Machinima recently locked $24 million in new funding led by Warner Bros. Entertainment.
