Mashable has hired Mike Schmidt as its editorial director of video.
In this role, Schmidt will work on the brand’s overall video strategy and oversee the video production team. He will also work towards promoting Mashable’s video content.
As the chief content officer and executive editor of Mashable described, “Mike not only brings an exceptional set of skills and experiences, but he understands the value of collaboration and importance of reaching and serving a mobile audience.”
Before joining Mashable, Schmidt co-founded Morel, a Washington DC-based design/storytelling agency with a focus on interactive documentaries, short films, and other digital projects. Prior to that, Schmidt served as the director of multimedia at National Geographic, where he managed the company’s digital content on YouTube and other web platforms.
