The French video site has agreed to a multi-faceted deal with Asian MCN WebTVAsia that includes the distribution of all content produced by the WebTVAsia and its creator partners, as well as helping the network grow audience and revenue on Dailymotion. This entails collaborating on the roll-out of 100 channels from the two companies.
The companies will also create exclusive content for Dailymotion. Together, they’ll produce videos for the French platform’s Asian market.
Since launching in late 2013, WebTVAsia has grown to 2.5 million subscribers across a network of more than 160 channels on YouTube. It has produced content for territories in Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand.
Said Dato’ Kamil Othman, director general of the National Film Development Corporation, a longtime Malaysian representative at MIPTV, “This major milestone is in line with the Malaysian Government’s aspiration to encourage and nurture the growth of the next generation of digital content companies within its shores that can become truly global players. WebTVAsia has proudly set the wheels into motion and we give our fullest support to the endeavor.”
