Verizon will bring all kinds of college sports content to its Verizon Wireless customers later in 2015.
To make this happen, the ISP has made deals with a number of sports content providers. They include ACC Digital Network, which covers games from within the Atlantic Coast Conference; Campus Insiders, a digital video network for college sports; ESPN; 120 Sports, a sports news network that focuses on mobile; and CBS Sports.
From ESPN, Verizon Wireless users will be able to watch live video coverage of certain college football and basketball games. They’ll also get to watch curated episodes of the ESPN Films’ “30 for 30” series. CBS Sports, meanwhile, will bring live footage of the most notable college games to Verizon mobile users.
“Sports fans are some of the most passionate around, and they never want to miss a single play,” said Terry Denson, vice president of content acquisition and strategy at Verizon, explaining the decision to put this content on mobile. “College sports, with all of its live programming and networks targeted to millennials, are a natural fit for any mobile-first video platform.”
