Nickelodeon’s first digital-only series, “Welcome to the Wayne,” has been greenlit for television.
The network has ordered 20 TV episodes of the animated series, which originally launched on Nick.com and the Nick App with six, short episodes in August 2014. The series is scheduled to debut on Nickelodeon’s TV channel in 2016.
“Welcome to the Wayne” follows two boys who live in a New York City apartment building populated by some interesting characters. It was created and written by Bill Lopez (“Phineas and Ferb”), an Emmy-winning composer (and –nominated writer).
In addition to the series airing on TV, “Welcome to the Wayne” will have its own, dedicated app created by Nickelodeon. Called “The Wayne,” the app will let users further explore the building and the adventures of Olly Timbers and Ansi Molina, the shows’ two, main characters.
