Currently in production, the “Hungerford” sequel is set to debut at the end of 2015. It follows the initial film about teenagers living in a small, English town…that becomes overrun by violent aliens.
Starring in the movie is Drew Casson, who also serves as the director and was just 19 when “Hungerford” was released. Casson plays Cowen Rosewell, who happens to be filming his life for a media course when the aliens descend in the original film.
This format seems particularly opportune for YouTubers, many of whom feature in the cast. YouTubers in “Hungerford” include Stuart Ashens, Bethan Ledley, Cherry Wallis, Jamie Paul, Mawaan Rizwan, and Paul Neafcy.
Jesse Cleverly, Wildseed Studios’ co-founder, also serves as creative director and co-writer on “Hungerford 2.” He emphasized the importance of having YouTubers in the cast. “In this film, the survivors are joined on their post-apocalyptic road trip by a number of new film debutants, who also happen to be YouTube veterans with 1.5 million subscribers to their channels,” he said. “We are convinced that the resulting dynamic will introduce the horror/sci-fi genre to a whole new audience — which can only be a good thing for everyone.”
