Machinima is adding two, new executives to its senior leadership team. Former Fox and Sony Pictures exec Joseph Epstein will join the MCN as SVP of marketing, and former BBC Worldwide and Endemol exec Joerg Bachmaier will take on the role of SVP of content strategy and co-productions.
As SVP of marketing, Epstein will report to Machinima’s CEO, Chad Gutstein. He will helm Machinima’s rebranding campaign and guide the marketing team.
Before joining Machinima, Epstein served in executive roles at 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Digital Broadcast Group (what’s now Defy Media), and Razorfish.
Meanwhile, Bachmaier will report to Machinima’s chief content officer, Daniel Tibbets. Bachmaier will negotiate content acquisitions, co-productions, and rights deals with the likes of studios and game publishers. He will also pick out content for Machinima’s social presence, OTT platforms, and content distributors.
Prior to Machinima, Bachmaier served as the EVP of international production at BBC Worldwide. Before that, he headed Endemol’s global brands in the Americas.
Epstein and Bachmaier mark the latest additions to Machinima’s revamped leadership team. Back in March, the company hired former MediaLink and Sony Pictures exec Jamie Weissenborn as its first ever chief revenue officer, shortly afterwards hiring James Glasscock as the SVP of strategy and business development. Most recently, Machinima appointed former Warner Bros. exec Marc Verville as its new chief financial officer.
All this took place after Machinima locked down $24 million in new funding led by Warner Bros. Entertainment.
