Disney XD has launched a digital series of cartoon shorts from web animators The Brothers Chaps, Mike and Matt Chapman.
Called “Two More Eggs,” the series includes 40 original short videos, three of which are available at launch. New episodes will come out on Tuesdays during the summer, in which viewers will get to see various styles of animation, like flash and even animation interspersed with live action film.
The three debut episodes are “Dooble Dooblie Doo” (see below), “CGI Palz Theme Song,” in which characters sing a song that reflects on how they’re animated, and “Hop Dip Not 4 Momz,” a commercial parody.
The content will largely reflect the animated series for which the Chapman brothers are best know, “Homestar Runner,” episodes of which have been coming out since 2000. Their production company, Citywide Hoop Champs, Inc., is behind the new Disney XD web series, which is produced in association with Disney Television Animation.
“As we pursue new methods of development and short-form production, we looked to two trailblazers in the field, Matt and Mike, who created a beloved web series years before today’s ubiquitous video-sharing platforms even existed,” said Eric Coleman, SVP of Disney Television Animation. “This project epitomizes our development strategy — hire great talent and give them the freedom to create content with their unique point of view.”
