Digital production and distribution company Rampante announced on Wednesday its first project in its partnership with Time Inc., “New Orleans, Here and Now.” The six-part docu-series will be released across all of Time Inc.’s digital properties in August to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
“New Orleans, Here and Now” tells the story of real people living in what has become one of America’s most diverse and cultural distinct cities.
Each episode will be directed by a filmmaker with a connection to the city — John Maringouin (“Big River Man”), Darius Clark Monroe (“Evolution of a Criminal”), Angela Tucker (“Asexual”), Lily Keber (“Bayou Maharajah”), Zach Godshall (“God’s Architechts”) and Katie Dellamaggiore (“Brooklyn Castle”).
Formed in 2014 by distribution executive Emiliano Calemzuk, a veteran of Fox Television and The Shine Group, Rampante Productions partnered with Time Inc. in November of that year to develop the publisher’s video library and distribution strategies.
Rampante and Time Inc. are producing “New Orleans, Here & Now” in partnership with Killer Films (“Mildred Pierce,” “Still Alice”) and Field Office Films, a New Orleans-based start-up company formed by the producers of “Beasts of the Southern Wild.”
The series is being executive produced by New Orleans-born actress Patricia Clarkson (“Pieces of April,” “Six Feet Under”), actor Scott Bakula (“NCIS: New Orleans”), Killer Films founder Christine Vachon (“Boys Don’t Cry”) and Pamela Koffler (“One Hour Photo”).
Time Inc.’s digital properties include streaming sports network 120 Sports, short-form content packager Net2TV and the web platforms of print staples such as People, InStyle, Fortune and Sports Illustrated.
