Supergravity Pictures, the digital entertainment studio specializing in films starring social video influencers, announced today that it had secured funding from Otter Media, a joint venture by AT&T and the Chernin Group.
The exact terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Supergravity will use the new funds to increase staff and invest in new film projects. Previous Supergravity investors included former MTV president Van Tofler, Viacom Media Networks Music & Logo Group, and tech investor and entrepreneur Larry Braitman.
The news comes as Supergravity prepares to debut it’s second feature film “Chosen” a thriller starring YouTube star and former O2L member Kian Lawley. The company previously released “Man Up” a buddy comedy starring YouTube humorists Justin Chon and Kevin Wu.
Otter Media has continued to expand its presence in the online video and digital entertainment space since its establishment in 2014 by acquiring a slate of specialized companies within the video space. Current Otter Media properties include multi-channel network Fullscreen, anime streaming platform Crunchyroll, and arts and crafts video platform Creative Bug. Otter also acquired Austin based video and animation studio Rooster Teeth through its subsidiary Fullscreen.
